If your life has been touched by Alzheimer's, I have a need I would like for you to consider. 

I am a part of one of our local Search and Rescue teams. Recently, we were able to locate and return to safety a patient with Alzheimer's who had wandered from her home. We located her using a borrowed thermal drone. (This drone is often not available.) She had gotten stuck in a mesquite bush—a local desert plant that has long thorns—and could not work out how to get out. (I am told this is typical behavior for people with Alzheimer's.) In the video you can see her struggling unsuccessfully to find her way out.

Once found, teams were deployed and she was quickly brought to safety. 

This video was shot at around 1:00 a.m. The temperature was in the 20s. She had left her house mid-afternoon and was not dressed for the cold. (Here in the desert, we have about a 30 degree swing in temperature every 24 hours.) I don’t know if she would have made it through the night. 

We had a similar case about a year ago when a thermal drone was not available. This subject survived only because she had her dog with her and was thus able to keep warm.
