RootedPulpit-Press is pleased to announce the release of our latest book: Rooted, by Brad Whitt. God's desire for His people is clear: So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live in him, rooted and built up in him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness. Colossians 2:6-7 (NIV) If it is your desire that your people be rooted, I'd invite you to take a look at this new book. Here is what Johnny Hunt said about it in the Foreword: There is no greater need in the church today than
that God’s people be rooted and grounded in Christ. Perhaps it has always
been true, for Paul admonished us to be “…rooted and built up in Him and
established in the faith, as you have been taught, abounding in it with
thanksgiving” (Colossians 2:6–7, NKJV).
My heart has been burdened to see His people discipled, and these
truths and principles are so needed. Brad Whitt has written an excellent guide to being
rooted in the faith. With a pastor’s heart, he guides the reader through
eight essential steps to being rooted in the faith: •
It starts with being saved. It is estimated that half of our
church members are not saved. Jesus said it would be true. He said that many
would stand before Him on the judgment day and say, “Lord, Lord…” •
Baptism follows salvation. Brad says that baptism is like a
wedding ring. It doesn’t make you saved; it declares that you are saved.
But, any bride who refused to declare her allegiance with a wedding ring is
not worthy of being called a bride. True followers of Jesus joyfully follow
their Lord in believer’s baptism. •
Understanding spiritual warfare. The Bible teaches we are at war.
Brad does an excellent job describing spiritual warfare and how we can win
the war with the weapons God provides. Many are losing the battle because
they do not know they have an enemy. •
Rooted in the Word. We are not transformed by trying hard to be
good. We are transformed by the renewing of our minds. Being rooted is
largely about starting your day with your Bible on your lap. •
Rooted in prayer. Christianity is all about a relationship. A
relationship is all about communication. God communicates to us through His
word. We communicate to Him through prayer. •
Sharing Jesus confidently and consistently. 97% of Christians
don’t actively witness. Brad is out to change that. •
Growing in giving. Studies show that Christians are no more
generous than the world—or barely so. Brad shows us how to become joyful
givers. •
First things. Jesus said to
seek first the kingdom. Jesus does not want to be our co-pilot. He wants to
run the show. He is Lord of all, or He is not Lord at all. This book would make a great gift to everyone in your
church and especially those who have recently trusted Christ. My heart’s
desire is that God’s people be rooted in the faith. I heartily endorse
Brad’s help in leading us toward being rooted in Christ.
