Take it from some one who knows!

Many years ago we invited Josh and his wife to come to our church and share these, and many other, amazingly simple and straightforward kingdom building concepts with our leaders and teachers. They graciously shared their experiences and showed us how we could achieve greater service to our community with many of our ministries and a deeper, more fulfilling service experience for our members. Their gifts were not utilized nor their excellent ministry suggestions incorporated nor heeded ... the book's title says it all.

The book is well written and straight from the heart of a proven servant leader. Be prepared to be challenged and uplifted; it's what we servants live for, right?

Great for pastors who sense a need for change but feel overwhelmed. Music and Preaching are key to change in small churches.

Josh Hunt not only makes a compelling case for why the church must change, he then teaches us how the church can change. It's an informative, bold, hopeful read that can help you navigate the waters of change.

Not ground breaking, but an easy read to realize and encourage the change needed in our churches. If you like it get more books about this topic.

5.0 out of 5 stars Semper Reforma - Always Reforming, May 2, 2014

This little book by Josh Hunt has a big punch. I have been following Josh's writing for a long time and think his book on "doubling your group" an essential for any church or ministry. In this book, Josh makes the argument that we must always examine our church practices and make sure they are meeting the needs of the current situation. Everything becomes stale over time and just because we have always done it that way does not always mean we could continue. The reformers knew this well and used the term Semper Reforma to show that we must always check our theological understating and practices. Of course we do so in light of God's word, and some have argued that we should not change things because God is the same yesterday, today and forever. But God did not ordain organ music and hymns as sung in the early 1900's as the only way to worship God. Josh leads a very good discussion on music and it's importance to who we attract and who we repeal. But this book is far more than a treaty on worship music and styles. It is about re-framing how you think about church and some of the practices that have become ingrained in your congregation. Some of what Josh says, as he admits, might be geared toward the denomination of which he is a part. But I think it is applicable to all of us. And one of the best things about the book is how it leads us to consider which of our practices might need to be re-tuned or jettisoned. The introductory section on Kotter's 8-point outline of change was worth the price of the book all by itself. I have read many books on change in the church and some are much more comprehensive with many more ideas. But this is the book to get for your staff, elders, leaders and key members. Because this is a book they will read all the way though and will stimulate the kind of conversations you need to have with them.

5.0 out of 5 stars Some great ideas live in here!, April 21, 2014
This review is from: Change Your Church or Die (Kindle Edition)
Great and easy read. Some who read this May think the ideas are too simple. They are simple but that is what you need. In that regard I was reminded a bit of Naaman, who protested bathing in the Jordan to cure his leprosy. Finally his servant reminded him that if he had been told to do some great work, he would have gladly done that. Why not try the simple task given you of bathing in the Jordan River. Lo and behold, simple worked, and so will this.

5.0 out of 5 stars One Great Investment, April 21, 2014

One book that delivers what it promises. Josh in rapid fashion looks at areas where our churches are struggling, and gives some realistic ideas and opinions that provide the basis of workable solutions of change for pastors and leaders in the local church. There is just one flaw in this ointment for change...most of us are too impatient to lead the sheep, we want to drive them.
I would definitely recommend this book to anyone who sees that "change your church or die" is more than a catchy phrase, but a realistic view of churches and denominations in America today. The price and quick read of this book is the best investment of your money and time on the market today.
