My third web page

I set up my first web page in May of 1996. (Want to read a blast from the past? Here is an article I last saved on 8/13/1996. I had started my first web page 3 months before. http://www.joshhunt.com/mail759.html

I just created my third paid site: Ken Hemphill's site for Auxano Press. He had another company doing it and they were doing a great job, but it was quite expensive. With the advent of Wordress, it is easy (and thus, less expensive) to set up a sharp web page. As of this writing, there are 68,080,070 Wordpress sites on the web. It is by far and away the most popular web platform. It started out as a platform for blogging. Today, Wordpress is used for just about anything. Ken Hemphill's site is a commerce site where you can purchase books at deep discounts in bulk.

If you are paying a pile of money for your church's webpage I'd invite you to look into Wordpress. There are places where you money is better spent. If you would like some hand holding, give me a call 575.650.4564 or email me at josh@joshhunt.com. I had a blast setting up Ken Hemphill's site and would do some work helping churches get started setting up a Wordpress site. Here are several examples of my work:

One nice thing about Wordpress is it easy easy--and free--to experiment with. Just head over to http://wordpress.com Click, click, click and you are on your way. Two distinctions took me a while to wrap my head around:

  • The difference between a widget and a plug-in
  • The difference between a post and a page

Oh, one more thing. I didn't realize until this last year the value of a paid theme. (Normally around $50 - $75). They can really make a page pop. Check out my photography site.

I'd invite you to give Wordpress a try. If you get in trouble and need some help, give me a call. I can set up a web site and teach you to run it for a pretty reasonable price.
