Come hear Elmer Towns

If you love Sunday School, you owe it to yourself to come hear Elmer Towns. Elmer Towns and I will be conducting another All Star Sunday School Event September 6 – 7, 2013 at First Baptist, Ocala, Florida.

Dr. Towns came to faith in Christ through the Sunday School. He was raised in a non-Christian home. A Sunday School teacher by the name of Jimmy Breland came by his house to sell coffee and tea. Jimmy worked for the Jewel Tea and Coffee Company. When little Elmer walked into the room, Jimmy asked him, “Where do you go to Sunday school?” Elmer had never heard of Sunday School. Let me let him tell the story.

Jimmy explained that Sunday School was a place where they told stories, sang songs, colored pictures and played on a sand table.

“What’s a sand table?” I asked innocently. Jimmy could see my interest in the sand table. I was like a fish on the line, so he reeled me in slowly.

“If you come to my Sunday School, we’ll make a sand mountain and show you how Jesus walked across the mountains.” That was the first time I remember hearing the name Jesus. Then he said, “We’ll put a mirror in the sand and it will become a lake; I’ll show you how Jesus walked on water.” — Elmer L. Towns. What Every Sunday School Teacher Should Know (Kindle Locations 76-79). Kindle Edition.

Long story short, Elmer came to Sunday School, came to Christ and became one of the most influential Christian leaders in our time. I count it one of the great thrills of my life to share the stage with him and talk about Sunday School.

Come here Dr. Towns Sept 6 – 7. You will be forever glad you did!
