Why not obedience?

About now, you might be thinking this is a “bash the Christians” book. You might be wondering whether you are up for nearly 200 pages of guilt for not being dedicated enough. Before you put this book down, you need to know something. This isn’t that book.

The question I am interested in is, “Why?” Why do we hesitate to be obedient? What do we believe about the obedient Christian life? What do we believe about God? Do we believe God is good? Do we believe following God is good? Do we believe it is best for us to be obedient?

I get the feeling that many see it as a choice, between obedience and the good life. For a long time, I saw it that way.
